National Rural Livelihood Mission expanded to Bathinda and Muktsar.

The National Rural Livelihood mission (NRLM) aims at creating efficient and effective institutional platforms of the rural poor
enabling them to increase household income through sustainable livelihood enhancements and improved access of financial services . The government has provided Rs 13.80 crore under this scheme during the current financial year.
A spokesman of the Rural development and Panchayats Department said that Under National Rural Livelihood Mission , the state government
will ensure adequate coverage of vulnerable sections of the society . In a bid to provide facilities for self-help groups , a pilot project has also started in 14 blocks of seven districts of the state. For this purpose , NGO’s social workers , youngsters
have educated people regarding new opportunities of self-employment.
