Achievements

  • All villages in the State are likely be covered under safe Drinking Water Supply Schemes by December, 2014.
  • 581 Water Supply Schemes got completed which includes 449 new water supply schemes commissioned during 2012-13 (up to March, 2013).
  • 1809 out of 1811 RO Plants have been installed in the rural area of Punjab with an amount of Rs. 216.56 Crore and the remaining 2 RO Plants shall be installed by May, 2013. Apart from this, a project for installation of 561 R.O. Plants for 565 villages amounting to Rs. 88.76 Crores has been submitted to NABARD for approval. During 2013-14, another 400 R.O. Plants are proposed to be installed under NRDWP funds from Government of India.
  • 16032 Schools have been provided with the facility of toilets and safe drinking water up to March 2012. During the year 2012-13, 443 Schools have already been provided with the facility of toilets and safe drinking water (up to March, 2013) and the work of providing toilets is under progress in 45 Schools of District Muktsar.
  • 166 Nirmal Gram (Open Defecation Free) villages of Punjab have already been awarded by President of India up to March 2012. During the year 2012-13, 562 villages have been made Nirmal Gram (Open Defecation Free) which are under verification from third party.
  • Renovation & Rehabilitation of 56 ponds were completed up to March, 2012. During 2012-13, 94 village ponds have been renovated (up to March, 2013). So, 150 village ponds have been renovated out of total target of 190 village ponds. The remaining 40 ponds will be renovated during 2013-14.
  • Setting up of Advance Water Testing Lab amounting of Rs. 4.31 Crore for the Northern States of India is under progress at SAS Nagar. The basic structure of the building for advance water testing lab has been constructed and the finishing work is in progress. Simultaneously, the process for the procurement of equipment has been initiated.
  • 81 villages have been provided Sewerage Scheme under VDF up to March, 2013 and 100 villages under World Bank Project will be covered with Sewerage Schemes by December, 2014.
