Urban Development


  • An ambitious project of Rs. 8888 crore launched to provide 100 percent basic civic amenities.
  • 50 new urban estates being set up through out state.
  • Master plan of 32 towns has already notified and of 40 more to be notified soon. New town planning norms as per international standards.
  • Rs. 818 crore project on war footing for provision of water supply and sewerage facilities in 35 towns situated on the banks rivers Beas, Sutlej and Ghaggar.
  • Under unique solid waste management initiative, the door to door collection of solid waste and its transportation to dumping sites has started in 4 clusters namely Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ferozepur and Bathinda.
  • After successful launch of city bus service in Ludhiana and Jalandhar, the Amritsar is all set to have this facility.
  • Energy efficient street lighting to save Rs. 20 crore annually for the Urban Local Bodies.
  • Detailed Project Report of Rs. 9840 crore Ludhiana Metro await nod of GOI.
  • Process to set up Public Rapid Transit System (PRTS) in Amritsar already started.
