Year (2007-12)

  • Implemented the Punjab Police Act 2007.
  • Police Commissionerate System started in 3 mega cities namely Ludhiana, Amritsar and Jalandhar.
  • Record promotions of 13351 Police personnel in the state.
  • Record 18168 new recruitments in Punjab Police.
  • Highest Pay Scale for Punjab Police constabulary.
  • 123 Sanjh Kendras and Outreach centres at Sub-Division and Police Station level established to provide 25 civil services to common citizens.
  • 6 NRI Police Stations have been set up at Jalandhar,Ludhiana, Nawanshehar, Hoshiarpur, Moga & Kapurthala and 1 State Cyber Crime Police Station and Forensic Science lab at Mohali.
  • Special Security Groups (SSG) and Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) teams constituted for quick response in any emergent situation.
  • First ever Battalion of lady constables raised.
  • Redeployed large number of security personnel and vehicles for general policing after rationalizing VIP security.

Year (2012-17)

  • A Rs. 35 crore Rapid Rural Police Response System for providing police assistance in rural areas in less than 20 minutes.
  • 585 motorbikes and 289 multi-utility vehicles fully equipped with required gadgets to ensure timely response.
  • Rs.135 crore Safe City project for Amritsar and Ludhiana for providing overall security solutions.
  • Mapping of areas prone to criminal and terrorist activities, installation of CCTV Cameras in every nook and corners, latest sensors and automatic license plate readers in these mega cities.
  • First of its kind in country the Night policing with dedicated night patrolling force on National & State Highways, Corporation Towns and other major towns.
  • 90 Sanjh Kendras and 54 Outreach centres providing 25 services like Passport and License verification, police clearance certificates besides permissions for various functions to common citizens at Sub-division and police station level.
  • 147 more Sanjh Kendras to be completed at the cost of Rs.14 crore in current financial year.
  • For gender budgeting 338 lady sub-inspectors and 1200 lady constables to be recruited in next 3 years.
  • 6 posts of lady Dy. SPs and 36 lady Police inspectors have been approved.
  • More Special Security Groups (SSGs) and Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT) teams to be raised.
  • An online portal to register any grievance or problem online at Punjab Police website.
  • Special Armed Women Security Squads deployed in 6 districts namely Muktsar, Bathinda, Faridkot, Mansa, Ferozepur and Fazilka.
  • One more NRI Police Station at Amritsar soon.
